This is why Electric Showers should be installed by Qualified Electricians and why the double pole isolation pull switch should be used - in this case the householders went away on holiday without isolating the shower supply and when they returned they found that fault had caused the housing to melt away, they were very lucky not to have come home to a burned down house.
